How It Works

A painless finger-prick produces a few drops of blood and urine is deposited onto filter paper. After the samples dry, they are returned to the envelope and shipped to the lab.

How Is Our Testing Superior?

Traditional blood testing shows how much of a nutrient is in the blood, referred to as the "blood level" of said nutrient.

However, many factors influence how a nutrient actually functions in the body and the level only reveals how you compare to the population standards. Your optimal range for each nutrient could be considerably higher or lower than the norm.

Metabolites are byproducts of nutrient metabolism. We analyze 80+ metabolites to provide deep analysis into your metabolism.

Blood Test FAQs

What will the blood test tell me?

Blood data is great for determining initial nutrient dosing and also for tracking how nutrient levels change over time, which is valuable information used to adjust doses and learn how nutrition therapies or lifestyle changes impact your health. Our metabolite test does the same thing, but we track nutrient function instead of nutrient level.

Already have blood nutrient test results from another source, like a physician? Easily upload the data into your Rootine dashboard.

Why have I never heard of metabolite testing?

Metabolite analysis has been used by the medical community for some time; however, it was too expensive in the past to be offered as a consumer product. It's an extremely complex test that analyzes 80+ metabolites via mass spectroscopy and there are only a few labs in the world that have this capability. Thankfully, our lab is one of them and we're able to bring this exciting technology to you.

I already have blood data, can I upload?

Yes, as long as the blood data corresponds to nutrient levels (we cannot process other markers, like cholesterol or hsCRP) you can manually upload these values in your dashboard and they will be used to guide nutrient dosing. Simply complete the free lifestyle quiz, enter your dashboard, and enter the values that you have (if you don't have all of values that is not an issue). More info can be found in our complete FAQ.

How long does it take?

From the time our lab receives your test kit, analysis can take anywhere from 3-5 weeks based on the quality of your samples. You'll receive an email when analysis is complete and your Rootine dashboard will include your results and recommendations.

Is my blood data private?

Your data is 100% private - plain and simple. Rootine is not in the business of selling personal data or using it for any purpose other than making sure that your body gets the precision nutrition it deserves. Our industry-leading genetics laboratory is governed by some of the strictest data and medical privacy laws in the world.

Metabolite blood test vs. traditional blood test

Traditional blood testing shows how much of a nutrient is in the blood, referred to as the "blood level" of said nutrient. However, many factors influence how a nutrient actually functions in a body and the level only reveals how you compare to the population standards. Your optimal range for each nutrient could be considerably higher or lower than the norm. Metabolite testing shows you the dose required based on what is going on within your body.
